MOLD: Let's Talk about It!

MOLD”… Even the word is pretty gross huh?

Like a distant cousin of “moist”…

"MOLD" - just reading it makes me a bit uncomfortable…

If you’re like me, buckle up because we’re talking everything "MOLD" today…

Apologies in advance….

We want to let you in on THE SECRET! The secret to avoiding…..

"MOLD"

Yes…. you read that correctly…. MOLD…

Even your Mr. Sprout products are prone to it…

NOW, before you get all frazzled & throw your phone across the room…

This "MOLD" we speak of…

Is really a NON-HARMFUL fungus...

It's about as dangerous as the fluff under your sofa….

But, seriously…. NOBODY likes moldy plants….

So…. We're gonna give you step-by-step instructions on how to prevent it from happening!

JUST TO BE CLEAR….

Your Mr. Sprout pots & soil are STERILE & DRY when they arrive to you…

BUT!

If you don't properly care for your pots…

It is VERY EASY for mold to grow in them!

So, be sure to follow these very IMPORTANT GROWING GUIDELINES to ensure that your plants grow healthy and strong - and most importantly MOLD-FREE! :)

  1. AVOID OVERWATERING -🌱💧- White fuzz will only grow in pots that get too much water. Seeds grow best in warm, moist soil - not swimming pools. To maintain constant moisture, you can cover your pots with clear plastic wrap & lightly sprinkle them with water when the soil begins to feel dry. Be sure to remove the plastic covering once your seeds begin to sprout.

  2. LOTS OF SUNSHINE -☀️☀️- Healthy plants grow best in a spot with a lot of sunshine and constant, warm temperature. The white fuzz mentioned above only grows in moist environments that do not get lots of sunshine. Ensure 6-8 hours of sunshine per day (at least), & your plants will love you for it.

  3. FRESH, MOVING AIR -🌬️🌬️- Plants love fresh air and a nice breeze. Good air circulation prevents this white fuzz from forming by letting your pots & soil breathe, which keeps your plants happy.

  4. USE SMALL POTS -🤏🤏- To germinate SMALL SEEDS, you need to use SMALL POTS! In order to stop mold from growing, the water needs to be consumed by the seedlings and if your pots are too big excess water will result in mold. But don't worry - we have provided the best pots to germinate seeds!
